My dearest, I long for your comfort, especially on the days when I need it most. Sometimes I wonder whether, if I had tried a little harder to hold on to you, we might still be together now. But I also realized that I couldn’t uphold a promise on my own—especially when you no longer felt the same way about me. I love you, but I could see that you were unhappy. My heart couldn’t bear to keep you in a place where you no longer wanted to be. I gave you my word that I would grow with you in every way, just as I wanted to grow myself. However, I came to understand that we could no longer grow in the same place. Your journey was taking you somewhere I couldn’t go. You knew that. The difference between us is that I would have still chosen you, while you chose not to choose me. Maybe you were uncertain, or maybe you didn’t want to feel guilty. Whatever the reason, I want you to know that I genuinely wanted the best for you—even if it meant I would no longer be part of it. Still, this foolish heart of mine carries so much love for you—perhaps too much. Sometimes I wonder whether I will ever truly move on. But I hope that, with time, I will learn to remember what we shared without wishing I could change the ending. I will always care for you, but I am slowly learning that loving you also means accepting that you are no longer mine to hold.
